About The Position

The position involves participating in all activities related to the social, recreational, and occupational rehabilitation of clients in recovery from dual disorders within a clinical setting. The role may include developing class material for social rehabilitation and basic living skills training classes, participating in classes, and leading discussions. Additionally, the position may involve developing activities for special programs and serving on related committees. The individual will confer with the program supervisor and assigned clinical staff regarding treatment during staff meetings, providing and receiving information on client participation and progress in treatment. The role may also assist clients in referring for substance abuse and mental health services for discharge planning and in developing new referral sources, including half-way housing and transitional housing. Teaching alcohol/drug education classes and providing other educational services under the guidance of clinical staff or program supervisors is also part of the responsibilities. The individual may perform case management functions, maintain case records, coordinate additional services, and act as a group leader during group counseling sessions. Other reasonable and related duties may be requested.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Preferably one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addictions treatment setting.
  • A two-year degree in Human Services may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Requires participation in a staff-training program.

  • Act as a group leader/facilitator during group counseling sessions.
  • Perform other reasonable and related duties as requested.
