About The Position

Microchip has a full-time opportunity for an Intern - Technician at our new facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the Spring ’26 semester. This role offers the opportunity to operate in a highly technical & scientific environment employing a variety of manufacturing and testing techniques. Successful candidate will support the following engineering activities: Design, Test, Check-out, Modification, Fabrication & Assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, RF/Microwave devices and specialized test equipment. Applications include Electronic Circuits, Microwave RF, and Logic Systems. Work from Schematics, Diagrams, Written and Verbal Descriptions, Layouts or Defined plans to perform testing, Check-out and troubleshooting functions. Perform Operation Test and Fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assist in design, construction, test, and check-out of test equipment. Use manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

Requirements

  • Pursuing an associate’s degree in related field
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings.
  • Willingness to learn soldering and cable assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and remain highly organized
  • Comfortable working with cross functional teams
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and process
  • Demonstrated proficiency in documentation generation, organization, and storage.
  • U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).
