About The Position
Under immediate supervision, this position is responsible for learning and assisting in surveying tasks as required. EXAMPLES OF WORK The following examples are intended only as illustrations of various types of work performed. No attempt is made to be exhaustive. Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer. APPLICABLE TO SURVEYS FIELD POSITION: Assist in the use of survey instruments, calculators, automated electronic data collectors, and GPS equipment. Train in reading and plotting land descriptions and the use of computers. Perform field reconnaissance for Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments. Learn and assist with plotting survey data on plan sheets. Train in reading and plotting land descriptions and the use of computers.
Requirements
- Student pursuing the educational equivalent of an associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a program of study accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Accreditation Education (CHEA), and completion of 30 college hours toward this degree.
- Students must be majoring in a highly technical curriculum or advanced degree in the area surveying/spatial information systems and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
- Valid driver's license required.
