Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering discipline.
  • Internship requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing an engineering degree.
  • Must have working knowledge of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment.
  • Must possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously, coupled with the ability to plan and perform work in a team environment or independently is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with other common industry software such as Matlab, Python, VBA, Rhinoceros 3D, Solidworks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support in preparing finite element models for static as well as dynamic analyses including global strength and spectral fatigue analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting analysis methodology, results, and conclusions.
  • Carrying out structural analysis using standard beam analysis software, performing hand calculations, and providing engineering conclusions based on the analysis data.
  • Performs structural design and analysis of new built as well as existing marine structures.
  • Familiar with marine engineering guidelines such as ABS Rules, DNV Rules
