Scout Motors Internship Program We will provide aspiring professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams. Undergraduate Interns will immerse themselves in the rugged SUVs and trucks landscape, gaining exposure to the latest trends, technologies, and market dynamics. Interns will be assigned meaningful projects aligned with Scout’s goals. These projects will challenge interns to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios, fostering problem-solving skills and creativity while working under the mentorship of our leaders. This program is designed for current undergraduate students who live in our local market. Please note that no housing stipend is provided. 2026 Internship Program Overview Schedule: The program is anticipated to run mid-May to mid-August 2026 Duration: Our internship program runs approximately 12 weeks, with the official end date varying dependent upon student needs and the start of respective Fall academic calendars Transportation + Housing: our Interns will be responsible for providing their own housing and transportation Important Notes: Scout Motors will not provide relocation or sponsorship as part of our Internship program High preference for currently enrolled Bachelors degree students About the team The Security & Fire Protection Intern will support the Security & Fire Protection department in the development, implementation, and evaluation of site safety, physical security, emergency preparedness, and fire protection programs. This role provides hands-on exposure to industrial security operations, emergency response planning, fire protection systems, and risk mitigation within a large manufacturing or corporate environment. The intern will assist with administrative tasks, operational assessments, policy development, and field observations to support the department’s mission of protecting people, property, and operations.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a degree program for Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Homeland Security, Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or Public Safety Administration. or a similar field
  • Must be able to work from Blythewood, SC from mid-May to mid-August 2026.
  • Strong interest in rugged SUVs and Trucks, automotive engineering, and sustainable transportation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review and development of physical security procedures and site policies.
  • Participate in security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
  • Assist with tracking and documentation of security incidents and reports.
  • Support contractor and vendor security coordination activities.
  • Assist with inspections and documentation related to fire protection systems including alarms, suppression systems, extinguishers, etc.
  • Support compliance tracking for fire safety regulations and internal safety standards.
  • Participate in fire brigade training coordination and emergency response preparedness activities.
  • Assist with the development of fire protection procedures and response protocols.
  • Assist with drills, tabletop exercises, and incident simulations.
  • Help document after-action reports and improvement plans following exercises.
  • Assist with compiling operational reports and metrics for security and fire protection activities.
  • Help maintain department records, documentation, and digital filing systems.
  • Participate in security and fire improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Assist with site assessments, audits, and operational reviews.
  • Support implementation of new security technologies or fire programs.
