About The Position

Sensient's Savory Flavors North America division is seeking a talented lab intern For Summer 2026! You will gain in-depth experience in product development, lab comprehension and equipment knowledge within flavors and specialty value-added ingredient applications. You will also be encouraged to explore other areas of interest to learn more about fundamentals and the general operations both within and outside of the assigned department that will be supplemental to the learning experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow detailed product preparation instructions and prepare samples quickly and accurately.
  • Well organized, able to handle multiple tasks daily, and operate in a safe and responsible manner in the lab.
  • Maintain accurate records, create reports including project objectives, project progress, technical formulations, and product data sheets.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work well with others and a positive can-do attitude.
  • At least 2 years of college science courses, preferably in Food Science or Chemistry.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs. Able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Due to our inability to offer visa sponsorship, we can only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the United States without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work in Hoffman Estates, IL and must reside in area or be willing to commute.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship in the food industry is beneficial but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Work under a Junior Flavorist to enhance your project management skills.
  • Work on flavor versatility in various food applications such as soups, sauces, and seasonings.
  • Assist in sample preparation, sample testing and learning application creation process.
  • Compile sensory and formulation data into summary tables and data graphs.
  • Maintains a safe and professional laboratory environment; complies with government and company safety directives, follows proper chemical hygiene procedures.
  • Employs effective communication skills, both written and oral; enters and maintains accurate and thorough records as required.
  • Attend team meetings regularly.
  • Work on a project throughout the internship and then present the results to the department and site leadership.
