About The Position

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, seeks a Research & Insights intern. You should be a team player and possess strong written and verbal communications, research, and critical thinking skills. Our internship program offers recent graduates and college students up to 40 hours a week of hands-on experience working in the firm’s strategic insights practice focusing on qualitative and quantitative research for firm clients, including public opinion research, message testing and development, campaign tracking and optimization, and corporate reputation and brand management. The ideal candidate for this role should have an avid interest in qualitative and quantitative research, messaging, and language. Interns work in person at our downtown DC office. This summer internship will run from May 26 to August 7. Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • College junior or senior, recent graduate, or graduate student with an interest in research, political science, marketing, public policy, or related fields
  • Strong research and analytics skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills and sharp attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Docs
  • Academic or professional recommendations
  • Ability to multitask and work across a variety of client accounts
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an efficient manner
  • Ability to adapt communications styles to cultural environments and incorporate the perspectives of multiple communities in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of policy proposals
  • Team player with a willingness to take the initiative when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience at an agency in market research, polling, data analytics, communications, public affairs, marketing, and/or relevant political campaign/government experience preferred
  • Prior experience with integrated analytics solutions (incorporating earned, traditional, owned, paid media, etc.) is desired but not necessary

Responsibilities

  • Learning and understanding complex corporate and public policy issues for new, current, and potential clients, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to leading trade associations and issue advocacy organizations.
  • Contributing to qualitative research projects by proofreading and editing participant and moderator materials and qualitative analysis memos and reports, attending focus groups, sharing detailed notes and feedback with the team, and more
  • Assisting on quantitative research projects by proofreading and editing surveys, analyzing data, ensuring accurate outputs, identifying key insights, collaborating on detailed PowerPoint analyses, and more
  • Conducting in-depth research from clients and key stakeholders for any project, including quickly absorbing, retaining, and critically applying information about clients, competitors, and relevant policies you may be initially unfamiliar with.
  • Writing, editing, and proofreading client-facing materials to ensure consistency, 100% accuracy (i.e. no typos, statements verified by data/research, etc.), and quality
  • Conducting comprehensive background research for new business opportunities
