This internship requires the candidate to be local to the Round Lake, IL office.

Requirements

  • Rising Junior, Senior or Graduate student pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or related major.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented, adaptive to change, and collaborative.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical writing and data review in a regulated type environment preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus or community activities and organizations, preferably in leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Material Scientists and Engineers, supporting laboratory activities in one or all of the following material characterization tools: thermal, mechanical, microscopy, optical, rheological, various chemistry analytical (such as HPLC, GCMS, etc.) to solve materials engineering challenges.
  • Support Material/Polymer Science Innovation for regulated medical products.
  • Perform laboratory testing using various material characterization tools.
  • Engage in method innovation, validation, and qualification.
  • Provide weekly updates outlining progress.
  • Identify and Qualify a new motor for Baxter’s Pump.
  • Support product development efforts to integrate and verify design updates and transfer new design into production.
  • Develop and validate test methods for determining fluid delivery accuracy.
  • Support the build of prototypes for feasibility studies on next generation medical devices.
