Fairstead is seeking a Summer Intern to support our Public Affairs team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, community engagement, and brand support within a growing real estate development firm. The intern will assist with a variety of projects and day-to-day tasks, working closely with cross functional teams to support internal materials, events, and digital content. This role is ideal for students interested in communications, public affairs, marketing, public relations, or related fields who are eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, marketing, journalism, political science, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in public affairs, communications, community engagement, or real estate.
  • Please note, this internship is on site at our NYC HQ from June 1st 2026 - July 24th 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and updating communications materials such as presentations, one-pagers, and internal documents.
  • Help organize and maintain shared team resources and files to ensure materials are easy to access and up to date.
  • Support preparation of simple talking points and briefing materials for meetings and events.
  • Assist with planning and supporting company and community events, such as property milestones, resident activities, and outreach initiatives.
  • Help with outreach and coordination related to events, including tracking guest lists and communications.
  • Support updates to the company website, including proofreading content and assisting with new pages as needed.
  • Assist with digital tasks such as content updates and research to support online presence.
  • Provide general administrative and project support to the Public Affairs team as needed.
