About The Position

BHE GT&S is offering a summer internship opportunity for students majoring in various engineering disciplines within the Project Team Department. The internship will provide hands-on experience in assisting with design reviews and procurement processes for large capital growth projects. Interns will work closely with project managers and engineers, gaining valuable insights into the natural gas transmission and storage industry while contributing to ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year ABET accredited Engineering Bachelor's degree program.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to create and work with spreadsheets and reports.
  • Effective teamwork and independent work skills.
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Preliminary work experience demonstrating knowledge of equipment and repair.
  • Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills, along with oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve equipment or process problems.
  • Capability to conduct site inspections, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to maintain drawing and configuration documentation related to repairs and modifications.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and small power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an office environment and travel to compressor stations and vendor offices for meetings and site visits.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members serving as mentors.
  • Compile a report-out portfolio documenting the internship experience and present it to a leadership team.
  • Assist in the design review and procurement process by comparing design drawings and deliverables.
  • Complete validation tasks under the guidance of project managers and engineers.
  • Compile comments and feedback from stakeholders for design and procurement vendors.
  • Help develop and manage tracking tools and lists for procurement of materials.
  • Participate in design review meetings and take notes.
  • Assist engineering project managers with technical evaluations and problem solving during site visits.
  • Manage schedules using Oracle P6, Microsoft Project, or Microsoft Excel.
  • Assist in financial estimates by updating forecasts with vendor quotes and proposals.
  • Perform design calculations and verify third-party calculations under supervision.
