About The Position

The Project Management Intern will work with their assigned department and/or team on any projects and day-to-day tasks. The intern will assist in project planning, while providing documentation and monitoring project progress. The intern will also facilitate communication between team members, other teams and departments within MNPS, and any outside stakeholders, while providing administrative support for their assigned department and/or team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the assigned department and/or team in developing project plans, schedules, and timelines under the guidance of assigned supervisor.
  • Track project timelines and ensure deadlines are met, documenting key discussions and follow-up action items from meetings.
  • Facilitate effective communication between team members and project stakeholders.
  • Perform comprehensive data analysis for assigned project(s).
  • Ensure compliance with critical laws and contracts.
  • Develop and manage complex cross-team project plans.
  • Prepare and update project status reports, meeting minutes, and other related documentation.
  • Provide general administrative support to the assigned team as needed.
  • May be required to analyze enrollment, financial, and survey data to assess the effectiveness of MNPS’s student-based budgeting process. This includes analyzing principal and bookkeeper survey results, evaluating enrollment trends, and assessing budgeted vs. actual expenditures. Deliverables include clear analyses and visualizations that highlight patterns, risks, and opportunities.
  • May be required to develop financial models to forecast the impact of enrollment trends on district revenue and costs, with the goal of modeling future scenarios to inform leadership planning and decision-making.
  • May be required to conduct research on best and promising practices in student-based budgeting across peer districts. Support focus groups or interviews with principals and bookkeepers to gather qualitative insights. Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations aligned to MNPS’s context and goals.
