This Intern opportunity is for civil engineering or construction management students eager to apply their skills to real-world Rail + Transit projects as part of a structured Internship Program. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals who will mentor and guide them to develop expertise in Project Controls.

  • Current undergraduate student (or higher) in an accredited Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related program.
  • Demonstrated interest in Project Controls for Rail + Transit projects.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and project management software.
  • Ability to be based on-site at one of our California office locations is important.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling tools is a big plus!

Responsibilities

  • Exploring Project Plans – Learn how to interpret and work with rail and transit project schedules, cost estimates, and contract documents.
  • Analyzing Project Performance – Assist in tracking project progress, identifying risks, and supporting cost control efforts.
  • Digging into the Numbers – Perform quantity take-offs, assist with budget analysis, and support project financial tracking.
  • Building Your Technical Skills – Gain experience in schedule development, earned value management, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborating with Experts – Work closely with project managers, schedulers, cost engineers, and other team members on innovative transit infrastructure projects.
  • Producing Real Deliverables – Contribute to progress reports, cost control documents, and scheduling updates under the guidance of senior professionals.
  • Applying Industry Standards – Learn to use industry-standard project controls software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and cost estimating tools.
  • Experiencing the Field – Participate in site visits and inspections to gain exposure to real-world project execution.
