About The Position

As the nation’s first statewide, “transmission only” company, VELCO manages the safe, reliable, cost-effective transmission of electric power throughout Vermont and as a part of the integrated New England regional network. VELCO’s Advancing Grid Intelligence through Learning Experiences (AGILE) Program is a summer internship opportunity for undergraduate and graduate college students. Based on principles of agile project management, AGILE Interns will make meaningful and tangible contributions to VELCO’s strategic projects to protect reliability and affordability of the transmission system. We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Power Accounting Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience. Power accounting involves tracking, measuring, and settling the flow of electricity across high-voltage grids, managing costs for usage, congestion, and line losses. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in energy accounting, support, and exposure to real-world power accounting.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily metering, scheduling, market settlements and monthly power billings.
  • Support daily power accounting operations including collection of meter data.
  • Assist and support with invoicing and audit processes.
