Program Duration Our internship program runs approximately 40 hours per week, from June 1st through mid-August. The Impact You Will Have This internship with the Pharmacy Management department focuses on supporting managed care pharmacy initiatives. During the experience, the intern will work closely with the Blue Cross pharmacy team and PBM clinical team. The intern will gain broad exposure to managed care operations by contributing to projects involving drug management strategies, utilization management, and clinical programs.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an educational program for the duration of the internship.
  • Completed at least the first year of pharmacy coursework
  • Hold a GPA of 3.0 or above on a scale of 4.0
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and a customer service orientation
  • Willingness to take initiative and learn new concepts and technical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and support a variety of projects
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, including being on-site at least 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with BCBSMN pharmacy team and PBM clinical team in design and coordination of clinical programs including formulary management and utilization management
  • Provide assistance with PBM oversight
  • Lead projects related to disease and case management, patient safety, and/or clinical outcomes
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of clinical programs
  • Actively engage in special projects related to drug management activities
  • Other duties as assigned
