About The Position

This role will be focused on wind blade and turbine systems engineering as part of the wind turbine generator engineering team within the Operations Engineering department of RWECE. The blades and system engineers are specialists in the blades and turbine as a system within the Onshore Wind Engineering team and provide support and expertise for Development, Construction, and primarily Operations of wind farms. This role will support the breadth of existing assets in the United States from the end of construction at a project site to repowering and decommissioning with effort on Operational success and needed repair at existing projects. The job also covers support of the other engineers globally. As RWECE is growing in terms of managed assets as the existing fleet ages, the position supports the growing asset base and growing maintenance needs which often come with age.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited US university program, pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical or computer science engineering
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and components
  • Knowledge of data analytics, reduction and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Responsibilities

  • Support blade damage dispositions
  • Perform turbine control, mechanical and electrical system issue dispositions
  • Analyze the existing failure modes in the RWECE fleet
  • Evaluate the criticality of each failure mode in terms of risk and cost
  • Evaluate the criticality of failure modes in terms of damage propagation and risk of catastrophic failure
  • Support of repair crews while performing complex diagnostics and repairs
  • Perform blade repair reports quality review
  • Evaluation of quality of work done by contractors
  • Support development of new and amend existing work instructions for blade inspections and repairs to be used on site
  • Support of root cause analysis and corrective action for blade damages and failures
  • Support process improvement and automation of ongoing activity
  • Adhere to the Company’s values and behaviors as aspired to by RWECE
  • Perform all other duties assigned as may be required from time to time
