Intern, Mechanical Engineer
About The Position
Yazaki is looking for a motivated Summer Intern - Mechanical Engineering to join our Component Business Unit Engineering team in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization. This internship runs full-time from May 11, 2026 to August 14, 2026. Our team is responsible for the full life cycle (from the gathering of design requirements to product support) of injection-molded plastic and stamped metal components. The intern would support these activities by various means including benchmarking products, creating 3D-printed prototypes, making drawings, performing design studies, testing components, drafting validation plans, and more.
Requirements
- Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period.
- Degree/experience related to the position (mechanical engineering is preferred).
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 11, 2026, and August 14, 2026
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks is preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Understanding of engineering drawings. Some experience with drafting.
- Effective communicator who can clearly visualize, interpret, and present data.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
Responsibilities

- Contribute to the progress of our vertical integration projects.
- Finish this experience understanding the basics of component design.
