About this Role The role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students' career goals through contacts with professionals in their fields of study. The intern experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. Intern are structured learning experiences where interns and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organizations. The intern assignments allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Volvo Group. Much of a Volvo intern's workday will be spent assisting management with activities related to the business area they support. You should be able-bodied, as the job may include extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.

Requirements

  • You ideally have completed at least 30 semester credit hours in a degree related to Maintenance or Maintenance Engineer or other related fields.
  • To fit our ideal profile, you will be highly motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • You are able to support the company within all levels of the organization.
  • You are able to apply your knowledge on the job and communicate your knowledge to individuals within the organization.
  • You are located in the Harrisburg/Middletown area and are able to commute to work throughout your internship.
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week and must be enrolled as full-time student for the spring semester.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

Responsibilities

  • Drive lean methodology within the facility utilizing the Volvo Production System
  • Data analysis of Maintenance data
  • Assist with development of Preventive Maintenance programs and modification of existing programs
  • Help facilitate continuous improvement and identify opportunities on your own to implement
  • Participate in project planning, implementation and improvements
  • Work with the Maintenance team to reduce non-value add activities
  • Work with Production to streamline Autonomous Maintenance activities to support PM
  • Help develop spare parts lists for plant assets
  • Help with digitalization efforts within the maintenance team
