About The Position

Assists in monitoring activities of the Metrolink Maintenance of Way Departments related to all areas of asset management, engineering, maintenance and construction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of engineering design and construction project management.
  • Ability to assimilate narrative information into quantifiable data.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Works effectively with co-workers, client, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Keeps others informed of work progress, timetables and issues.
  • Addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents (drawings, specifications, cost estimates) and other contract related material.
  • Knowledge of building materials and equipment, construction practices, and techniques.
  • Experience in using personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, drafting, and field verification of As-In-Service Drawings.
  • Assists in monitoring project activity.
  • Assists in development of asset inventory.
  • Supports project and construction management by monitoring daily field activity and performing research related to material, equipment, and labor cost.
  • Photographs field activities that most effectively exhibit daily work tasks and progress.
  • Follows existing document control procedures for filing of daily reports, photographs and other contract related files and submittals.
  • Develops thorough understanding of the contract, scope of work, estimate and procurement/contracting plan for assigned projects.
  • Communicates work activities with project team members and assist in identifying/resolving potential schedule impacts.
  • Reviews contract documents, drawings and specifications to determine adequacy for construction / implementation, and adherence to acceptable standards and practices.
  • Ensures that the contractors comply with their respective QA/QC plans, safety & other compliance obligations.
