About The Position

As a Summer Intern you will perform programming and conceptual design tasks through the preparation of contract documents under the direct supervision of one or more interior designers. Tasks will be in support of architectural and interiors projects related to new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, and FF&E work.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled and working towards a degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited University.
  • Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with computer software including Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform programming tasks.
  • Perform space planning tasks.
  • Participate in the design process.
  • Prepare design presentations to communicate ideas to clients.
  • Perform FF&E selection.
  • Edit specifications.
  • Produce deliverable drawing sets for finish plans, interior elevations, room finish schedules, furniture plans, and interior details.
  • Assist in designing and specifying project-appropriate interior design requirements.
  • Assist in selection and documentation of FF&E.
  • Perform Revit modeling and detailing.
  • Assist in conducting site investigations and observations.
  • Assist in the preparation of narratives, design presentations, boards, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, regarding project schedule and budget constraints.
  • Assist in performing cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
  • Assist with organization and upkeep of the interior design materials library.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends on space, function, lighting, finishes, furniture and equipment, etc.
  • Attend client and internal meetings (additional assignment).
  • Assist with performing construction contract administration (additional assignment).
  • Assist with marketing/business development activities (additional assignment).
