About The Position

We are seeking a highly talented Industrial Engineer to join our Continuous Improvement team at our Assumption, Illinois headquarters for the Summer of 2026. This is a paid, full-time internship during the summer of 2026. Students are required to work 40 hours per week onsite at our office in Assumption from tentatively Wednesday, May 27th through Friday, July 31st (dependent upon summer housing dates, could start earlier and/or end later).

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an IE/ME Engineering degree program, or related field
  • Must be registered as a full-time student
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Data analysis skills
  • Experience in AutoCAD
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably have completed one or more internships and/or have working experience (e.g. part time job)

Responsibilities

  • Participating in lean kaizen events
  • Contribute to identifying waste in manufacturing processes
  • Conduct time studies for manufacturing processes
  • Design and implement visual management improvements
  • Prepare standard work instructions for manufacturing processes
  • Operator workstation layout and flow improvements
  • Part presentation design and implementation, PFEP (plan for every part)
  • Provide support in problem solving activities
  • Provide support on custom fixture design, build, and implementation

Benefits

  • Expected hourly wage for this role will be $20 – 22 / hour. This is dependent upon year in school.
  • Benefits will include complimentary housing located at The Woods housing complex at Millikin University in Decatur, IL, for students that do not live locally.
