About The Position

This position is an entry-level, temporary/seasonal position. The position will primarily assist and work in a variety of situations, projects, and assignments. Tasks and functions normally assigned to this level are generally routine in nature, and any deviations or decisions from routine are generally assisted or approved by upper-level staff. The examples of work listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The class specifications are intended to be a general indication of duties and levels of difficulty and responsibility common to all positions in the class and, therefore, are not all-inclusive of all work which may be required. NOTE: This position is intended for seasonal part-time employees. Employee benefits for vacation, sick leave, pension, hospitalization, life insurance, and other benefits provided to permanent employees of the Authority are not provided to employees hired for this position. It is stipulated that the seasonal part-time status should not extend longer than three to nine (3-9) months.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of college courses in the area required by the position.
  • Coursework in the area required by the position.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge in the area required by the position. Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • The ability to prepare graphs, charts, exhibits, and understand spreadsheets, budgets, and prioritization tools may be required.
  • Must be able to evaluate situations and analyze problems to make decisions necessary for corrective measures with some direction, and follow standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field collection of environmental data, including water quality, biological, topographic, and bathymetric measurements, under a variety of field conditions.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and mobilization/demobilization of field equipment, scientific instruments, and data collection applications.
  • Process, quality check (QA/QC), and manage environmental and geospatial datasets to ensure accuracy and usability.
  • Contribute to the development of technical reports, maps, and figures to communicate findings to internal teams, partner departments, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize data to support watershed planning and environmental projects.
  • Collaborate across departments to support basin planning efforts, water quality monitoring, and public outreach initiatives.
  • Build and/or edit geospatial data using Esri suite of software
  • Build geospatial data using GPS/GNSS technology
  • Perform spatial analysis using Esri suite of software
  • Create cartographic products
