About The Position

Under immediate supervision, this position will assist the Water Utilities Engineering Planning Group with daily project duties for the city’s water and sanitary sewer systems. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Provide support to the Engineering Planning group to include but not limited to: Review and catalog construction record drawings Review and score CCTV inspection video Assist with field GPS surveying and asset information verification Data gathering, analysis, comparison and reporting Performing plan research and review record drawings of water and sanitary sewer infrastructure 2. Provide technical support to the Water Engineers which includes but is not limited to: Preparing cost estimates Checking design calculations Reviewing plans against city’s design criteria Visiting project sites to observe construction activity and verify compliance with the plans MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Strong computer skills and knowledge of PC-based programs such as Word, Excel and Access. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with citizens, staff and other departments. Skill in maintaining and creating accurate records and reports. Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to a telephone, copy machine and calculator. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, maps and diagrams. Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to adverse weather conditions, dust and dirt. Ability to perform physical skills including, but not limited to seeing, carrying, sitting and writing. Qualifying Education and Experience: Currently enrolled as a junior or senior Civil or Environmental Engineering major Enrolled at an ABET accredited institution Possesses a valid Texas Driver License, Class C.
