About The Position

Job Summary The Mesa Internship Program is a summer rotational program for current students seeking experience in the energy, mechanical, building, service, sustainability, sales, or project management fields. Mesa Energy Systems, Inc has an opening for an Automation Intern. Mesa interns will “rotate” across all job functions and present a final project at the end of the program while completing various tasks and support functions along the way. Interns will be responsible for providing support to the local branch and its service, operations, administrative, and sales teams. Tasks or support requested will include, but not be limited to, job walks or site visits to gather information related to equipment or projects. Will assist the Automation team with preparing design drawings and other project deliverables related to scope of work. Will assist the panel shop with panel fabrication and procurement tasks, and perform certain administrative tasks related to customer support and other tasks as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field will be conferred within 2 years.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office required.
  • Competitive nature, reliable, self-driven, organized, articulate, and goal oriented.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, manage time effectively, multi-task, & prioritize.
  • Ability to identify different customer personality types and adapt/respond accordingly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sales, project management, or customer service is preferred.
  • Experience in the HVAC is preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Research and assist in design of HVAC control systems to meet project scopes of work and budgets, including the selection and appropriate application of equipment controllers and peripheral devices.
  • Utilize Microsoft Visio to create system and control wiring diagrams.
  • Assist with tests, inspect, and adjust temperature sensors, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, or other control devices to check for accuracy.
  • Assist in building Automation Graphics, BAS front-end basic programming, field-level controller programming, and checkout.
  • Maintain project documentation for assigned projects according to company document control standards.
  • Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to filling out accurate timesheets, completing checkout sheets, supporting Smartsheet, daily jobs reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Interface with the Automation Team of programmers, engineers, designers, and project managers.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and attend required safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
