Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or engineering disciplines or related field.
  • Current Junior or Senior at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2026 and December, 2027.
  • Or enrolled in a Master’s program with a graduation date between December, 2026 and December, 2027.
  • Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week onsite.
  • Pass Hitachi’s substance screening program as required for safety-sensitive positions, in accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs.

Responsibilities

  • Make an impact in Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) department by playing a key role in implementing and monitoring current safety programs.
  • Engage with employees to refine safety procedures.
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations.
  • Work daily with the HSE Manager and others on the management team.
  • Daily/weekly monitoring of safety reporting and digital systems.
  • Assist HSE, Engineering, and supervisors with job safety analysis and other procedural improvements.
  • Provide project status updates as required.
  • Work under close supervision of the HSE Manager.
