Position Description: Hardware Engineer Intern LayerZero Power Systems is seeking a Hardware Engineer Intern to join our engineering team. This role provides hands-on experience working with real-world power distribution hardware, electronics design, testing, and product development. As an intern, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to support the design, validation, and improvement of hardware used in mission-critical power systems

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of electronics and electrical engineering principles.
  • Coursework or experience with circuit analysis, digital/analog design, or power electronics.
  • Familiarity with tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, or power measurement equipment.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field at an accredited college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with schematic capture or PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, OrCAD) is a plus.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Python, or embedded systems is beneficial.
  • Hands-on hobby or project experience in electronics, robotics, or hardware tinkering is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, testing, and validating electronic circuits and hardware components used in high-reliability power distribution equipment.
  • Support development activities across PCB design, schematic capture, layout review, and component selection.
  • Conduct hardware testing, including power measurements, signal integrity checks, environmental stress testing, and failure analysis.
  • Help create, update, and maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, schematics, test procedures, and design reports.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and contribute to hardware improvements.
  • Participate in lab work, including bench testing, prototype evaluation, and use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Assist in integrating hardware with embedded systems, control circuits, and monitoring electronics.
