Intern - Golf Maintenance
About The Position
The Golf C ourse maintenance summer intern is responsible for chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting , and exposure to small crew leadership opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs c hemical applications - b oom spraying g reens , tees , and fairways. Spray s hawking on Paynes Valley 19th Green. Performs maintenance on Rainbird/Toro sprinkler head and troubleshoot s as needed. Sand s t opdressing of g reens. Hand water s b ent grass greens in the transition zone using a pogo sensor. Leads s mall project crew when opportunities arise . Receives e xposure to visit Buffalo Ridge golf course to view their brand-new irrigation installation as well as to Cliffhangers, a new 18-hole par 3 course currently under construction. Network s with the other on course assistants, course superintendents as well as the Director of Agronomy. ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
Requirements
- Must b e currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree
- Servic e-oriented mindset and capable of making every guest feel valued.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Competent in working with multiple systems, including Microsoft Office and power point.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- A multi-tasker, prioritizing time effectively.
- A ble to work a varying shift including weekends and holidays.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers.
- Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
- Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
