About The Position

Our Vision is clear: Excellence, innovation and leadership in maintenance and support services. General Services is the maintenance department for the Port of San Diego. We are administrators, analysts, planners, journeymen, and technicians who understand all facets of maintenance. As an Intern in the General Services department, you will gain valuable experience supporting various administrative and operational functions. Your responsibilities may include assisting in routine maintenance tasks, including inspections and preventive maintenance development, maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, contract administration and assistance, working within maintenance technology, research, reporting, assist in projects and collaboration with other departments to address maintenance needs and improvements. This internship will allow you to gain practical experience in a professional maintenance environment, the opportunity to work on real projects, and mentorship and guidance from experienced maintenance professionals.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at an accredited college or university.
• School Enrollment Verifications are required to ensure satisfactory completion of the required units.
• Must be able to pass a background check if assigned to perform work at any of the District's maritime facilities.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation, including a polygraph examination, if assigned to perform work at any of the District's Harbor Police facilities.
