Intern - Gas Engineering
About The Position
MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a student pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, mechanical or industrial engineering graduating later than August 2026. Gas Engineering interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy industry. Interns will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills learned through college and apply them to the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer. Skills for Success Effective project management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Requirements
- Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in electrical, civil, mechanical or industrial engineering.
- Must be available to work May-August 2026.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Responsibilities
- Create engineering drawings for proposed and existing gas facilities.
- Assistâ¯engineering technicians with design of gas distribution government rebuild, new construction and reliability projects.
- Assistâ¯engineering technicians with field work (inspection, staking, measuring and record verification).
- Assist with coordination of design and construction of gas facilities with consulting engineers and construction contractors.
- Assist engineering supervisor with data analysis, summary and reporting.
- Enter inspections and record data in databases.
- Update gas distribution maps and records as necessary.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
