DrFirst is seeking a detail-oriented, analytically curious FP&A Intern to join their Finance team for Summer 2026. This full-time, 10-week internship, starting Monday, June 1, 2026, and ending Friday, August 7, offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real financial planning and analysis work alongside experienced finance professionals. The intern will gain direct exposure to budgeting processes, variance analysis, and ad-hoc financial modeling in a fast-paced healthcare IT environment, taking ownership of meaningful deliverables from day one.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Completed coursework in finance, accounting, or economics, with demonstrated exposure to financial statements including the Income Statement (P&L) and Balance Sheet.
  • Basic familiarity with the three core financial statements and an understanding of how they relate to one another.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage data and tasks accurately.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills appropriate for a professional remote team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, ask proactive questions, and manage time within a structured 9–5 EST schedule.
  • Genuine interest in financial planning, budgeting, and how financial performance informs business strategy.

Nice To Haves

  • Finance or Accounting major; Econ or Data Analytics students with financial statement coursework are also encouraged to apply.
  • MBA Candidates
  • Prior exposure to budget vs. actuals analysis, variance reporting, or financial modeling through coursework or prior experience.
  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets for financial data organization and analysis.
  • Familiarity with ERP or financial reporting systems.
  • Prior internship or project experience involving quantitative analysis, financial research, or business performance reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support annual budget preparation and related analysis, including data gathering, model updates, and presentation of findings.
  • Assist with monthly actuals vs. budget variance analysis, helping to identify and explain key drivers of performance.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc financial analyses as requested by finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain financial data across internal tools to ensure accuracy and usability for downstream reporting.
  • Prepare clear, concise summaries of financial findings for internal audiences.
  • Learn to navigate finance and reporting tools used by the team, with guidance and training provided.

Benefits
