This position is for Parker Hannifin's Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The accounting intern will work in the accounting and finance department and will provide support to various functions. The Accounting Internship Program is focused on the development of new talent by exposing interns to the dynamic and challenging field of corporate and manufacturing accounting. Interns gain a valuable understanding of real-world projects, tasks, challenges, and opportunities that exist within the industry. This paid internship is used as a springboard into the Accounting Leadership Development Program, by which practical experience gained during an internship creates an exceptionally prepared candidate. The internship is designed to be a full-time on-site position for the 2026 summer semester. The start and end date for the internship is flexible.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Incoming Junior or Senior Standing
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Previously taken or scheduled to take an Intermediate Accounting class
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to apply innovative thinking toward problem resolution.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and manage organizational and time management tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to demonstrate willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as part of a team as a self-starter.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares general ledger journal entries in accordance with the month-end checklist.
  • Prepare the daily accounts payable reconciliation.
  • Process invoices received for payment in compliance with the company's policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the daily accounts receivable reconciliation.
  • Assist with the accounts receivable collection process.
  • Assist with the weekly payroll process.
  • Maintain the imaging process for the finance department.
  • Gain an understanding of SOX and internal controls and adhere to those processes.
  • Assist with maintaining record retention per policies and procedures.
  • Complete various finance projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
