Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities As a Technical Operations Facilities and Ground Support Equipment Maintenance (FX/GX) intern, you’ll work side-by-side with our Technical Operations professionals, taking on problems and learning about our industry. Internships are paid and course credit hours may be considered depending on university’s guidelines. Technical Operations FX/GX interns will be working on different projects throughout our system. Potential projects include but are not limited to: Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Fleet Management, Reliability, Facilities and GSE Maintenance Strategy, Telemetry, Analytics, Predictive Maintenance and more. And depending on the team, you could be located in: Chicago, IL (ORD), Newark, NJ (EWR), Houston, TX (IAH), Washington, D.C. (IAD), Denver, CO (DEN), San Francisco, CA (SFO).

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another related field
  • Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in core degree course work
  • Individual should be a rising junior (at minimum) when internship begins
  • Must be available for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2026
  • Work related travel may be required, individuals must be able to travel without any restrictions
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship now or at any point in the future

Responsibilities

  • Clean, obtain and organize operational data and enhance existing dashboards (ex. Spotfire, Tableau)
  • Review, categorize and index OEM manuals, blueprints and training materials
  • Prepare cost analysis on projects
  • Analyze equipment utilization metrics and root-cause to improve processes
  • Communicate analysis results to all levels of the organization
