As an Intern - Facilities Chemical Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving chemical delivery systems that enable advanced semiconductor manufacturing. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside other engineering disciplines to design, maintain, and optimize site Facilities systems. Your efforts will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient chemical operations that support Micron’s cutting-edge processes. Your focus will be on system design, operational stability, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner with stakeholders across Facilities, Manufacturing, and Technology Development to resolve complex issues, implement best practices, and drive cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of chemical systems, instrumentation control theory, semiconductor facilities and high-purity principles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, troubleshooting methodologies, and risk assessments.
  • Advanced PC skills, including MS Office and familiarity with Micron systems (MICAP, Ariba, Work Order Program).
  • Ability to work independently, follow complex procedures, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Required: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred), Chemistry, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Micron safety policies and environmental regulations, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and chemical safety standards.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards through proactive risk assessments and audits.
  • Develop and manage projects using systematic methodologies to meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Provide engineering support for installation, commissioning, and startup of new chemical systems and infrastructure.
  • Analyze system performance data to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Troubleshoot complex chemical system issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Facilities, Manufacturing, Procurement, and external consultants to deliver solutions.
  • Maintain discipline knowledge in chemical theory, instrumentation control, and high-purity principles.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including TPM metrics and preventive maintenance optimization.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for chemical systems.
