About The Position

The Equipment, Technology and Maintenance (ETM) group is seeking a motivated
Summer Engineering Intern to support a wide range of production areas across our
campus. ETM plays a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting equipment
used in material growth, optical fabrication, thin-film coatings, and quality
assurance.

This internship is ideal for a student who enjoys hands‑on engineering work and
wants exposure to a broad cross‑section of technologies, processes, and
production equipment.  We will mentor and support you every step of the way.

Requirements

• Completion of a minimum of two years towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Familiarity with wiring diagrams, schematics, or lab equipment.
• Experience with basic hand tools, test equipment, or assembly work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
• Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Internship Duration: 10 – 14 weeks.
• All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. EHS standards.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Lt. or Autodesk Inventor is a plus. of AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test optical measuring systems.
• Assemble. wire and test electrical control panels.
• Support general engineering, maintenance and equipment improvement initiatives as assigned.
• Enter equipment and maintenance data into computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
