About The Position

The American Bankers Association (ABA) is seeking interns for a paid opportunity to work with one of the biggest trade associations in Washington, DC. This internship runs from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026, and offers a pay rate of $25/hour for undergraduate students (Junior or Senior) and $30/hour for graduate students. Interns will work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and will have the chance to engage in substantial work across various divisions of ABA, connect with leadership, build a network, and make a difference in the banking industry.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to report into ABA headquarters located in Washington, DC, at least two times per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support Audit Planning: Assist in gathering background information, preparing audit programs, and identifying key risks for business functions.
  • Perform Testing Procedures: Conduct internal control and substantive testing, document results, and ensure workpapers meet professional standards.
  • Analyze Data: Utilize tools like Excel or audit analytics software to identify trends, anomalies, or control gaps.
  • Evaluate Internal Controls: Help assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls across financial and operational processes.
  • Contribute to Reporting: Draft sections of audit reports and assist in communicating findings to stakeholders.
