About The Position

Launch your career with a paid summer internship at Salinas Valley Health, an award-winning 263-bed acute care hospital serving Monterey County. The Employee Health Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Employee Health Services (EHS) department at Salinas Valley Health. This role will serve as a key point of contact for staff, assisting with front desk operations, scheduling, communication, and records management. The intern will help ensure efficient workflow, maintain confidentiality of sensitive health information, and support compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Through collaboration with clinical and administrative staff, the intern will contribute to a positive employee experience and the smooth delivery of Employee Health services.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program
  • Must be available to participate in at least 8 weeks of the 10-week program

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Employee Health Services, providing courteous and professional customer service
  • Manage front desk operations, including greeting staff and maintaining an organized, confidential environment
  • Answer and triage phone calls, emails, and inquiries to appropriate staff in a timely manner
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm employee health appointments to support efficient clinic flow
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing confidential employee health records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Support data entry, document scanning, and electronic records management
  • Track and update logs, spreadsheets, and reporting tools as needed
  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, copying, and supply management
  • Assist with workflow coordination during high-volume periods and support departmental projects
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive health information at all times
  • Utilize internal systems and tools effectively, providing basic support to staff as needed
