Position overview: As part of the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) team you will work collaboratively with a cross-functional engineering team. You will participate in a wide range of design activities and help with developing the control panel design, performing calculations related to instrumentation selection, developing process control documents and generating PLC/HMI programs for cutting-edge water and wastewater treatment systems.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related technical discipline.
  • Passion for the environment and water treatment.
  • Self-motivated, quick to deliver, and a team player.
  • Able to demonstrate a dedication to safety and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and through technical writing.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, collaborative, work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of hydraulics and fundamentals of fluid mechanics.
  • Understanding of basic water chemistry and/or treatment processes.
  • Understanding of process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), process controls, and electrical design concepts.
  • Water treatment experience would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in project design review meetings.
  • Help create single line diagrams, load lists and control panel schematic drawings.
  • Perform required calculations to select the appropriate instrumentation for water treatment facilities and prepare supporting documentation (instrument & valve lists, instrument & valve datasheets, instrument installation diagrams, etc.).
  • Develop controls documents and PLC/HMI Programs for water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Contribute to the development of company standards and templates.
  • Develop team productivity tools.
  • Support with project issue resolution related to design, start-up and performance.
