Requirements

  • Education Level Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s
  • If bachelor’s candidate should be a rising Junior (completed 2 years by start)
  • Majors: Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Familiarity with electrical power systems and facility infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and project tracking tools preferred.
  • Internship Duration: 10 – 14 weeks.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant coursework power systems, electrical design, energy systems, or industrial electrical systems is strongly desired.
  • Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical drawing review is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Facilities Engineering with electrical infrastructure projects, including power distribution, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
  • Support project planning and coordination, including tracking schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications for facility systems.
  • Participate in site walkdowns and inspections to document electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, substations, backup power, etc.) and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Help collect and analyze data related to energy usage, electrical loads, and facility system performance.
  • Work with engineers and contractors to support project execution, commissioning, and system testing.
  • Assist with updating engineering documentation, maintenance records, and project reports
  • Prepare a final internship presentation or report summarizing project contributions and key learnings.
