About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to be based in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is expected to begin in May 2026. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Under the direction of a Sr. Electrical Engineer, the successful candidate will perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. Creating electrical plans and details with the use of Revit or AutoCAD. Utilize lighting software to perform lighting calculations. Assist with the electrical design of medium and low voltage power distribution, lighting, lightning protection, and grounding systems for multiple sectors including Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, DoD, and Mission Critical projects. Work under supervision of a senior level team member.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and must have completed at least 3 years of study.
  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • A solid understanding of Ohm’s Law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to learn Revit.
