Job Summary The Safety Intern supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) > HR team by assisting with safety programs, compliance activities, training initiatives, and workplace risk assessments. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and helps promote a safe, healthy workplace for all employees. The intern works closely with the Safety, HR, and Operations teams to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and strengthen the overall safety culture. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify hazards and recommend solutions.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations is helpful but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments throughout the facility.
  • Support incident investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and helping identify root causes.
  • Maintain and update safety records, training logs, SDS files, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in developing or updating safety procedures, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Help coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee engagement activities.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements to reduce workplace strain or injuries.
  • Assist with safety projects, such as PPE evaluations, machine guarding audits, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Promote safety awareness by communicating trends, observations, and improvement opportunities.
