About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking an Intern to join our team for the 2026 Summer Internship Program. This role supports senior leadership in developing research and executing mission‑relevant business projects for the Defense subsidiary. You will work at the intersection of business strategy, engineering, and program execution, translating complex satellite programs into clear, actionable insights and strategic deliverables for executive audiences. This is a 14-week internship beginning 06/01/2026 at our Lanham, MD location. To be considered for the internship you must be enrolled in the following semester. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program
  • MBA or MS students highly preferred
  • Educational background in Engineering, Business, Strategy, or a related field
  • Coursework or experience in space technologies
  • A minimum of 0+ years (internship role — research, academic projects, or prior internships beneficial)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Ability to obtain security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Existing security clearance (SECRET or higher) is a plus
  • Strong research and writing abilities with demonstrated skill in synthesizing open‑source information
  • Basic understanding of product development cycles, satellites, space systems, and/or RF communications
  • Experience building tools or reports to track metrics
  • Strong interest in defense, dual‑use technologies, satellites, and space
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; able to explain complex problems clearly
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment marked by complexity, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and critically analyze information to identify trends, patterns, and relationships within the defense and space sectors.
  • Synthesize open‑source research and independently write on space‑related topics and industry dynamics.
  • Analyze U.S. Government communications, including speeches and social media, and present findings to senior team members.
  • Draft, review, and edit reports, documents, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing and delivering executive‑level presentations that shape company and program strategic objectives.
