The Intern - Consumer Protection will assist with the day-to-day duties of the Office of Attorney General. This may include answering the toll-free line to assist consumers with their issues. The intern will become well-versed in consumer protection laws such as the vehicle lemon law, travel statutes, charities, cyber security, ID Theft, and many more. The internship may also include special projects such as working with the Investigators on research, organizing case files, and prepping a case. Depending on time frames, it may include attending various fairs throughout the state, working in the Consumer Protection booth, and interacting with the public.

  • Assist with day-to-day duties of the office
  • Answer toll-free line to assist consumers
  • Become knowledgeable about consumer protection laws
  • Work on special projects with Investigators
  • Organize case files and prep cases
  • Attend fairs and interact with the public
  • Must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours)
  • Must have completed one year (nine months) of chosen program by the start of the internship
  • Preference may be given to junior/senior standing students
  • Preference for South Dakota residents
  • Preference for students of South Dakota institutions
  • Minimum salary of $18.83 per hour
