About The Position

Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness, with a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. They are looking for 2026 Summer Interns - Civil/Structural Engineering. As a valued Intern at IEI, participants will engage in an eight-week program to gain hands-on experience in Construction, Civil/Structural, and Design Projects, including performing quantity calculations under the supervision of leading professionals. This internship offers exposure to real projects, the opportunity to work alongside senior staff, build skills, ask questions, and benefit from extensive knowledge, aiming to make an impact in shaping the future. The IEI Internship program offers exposure to a blend of field and office knowledge.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in and pursuing a degree an accredited Civil Engineering, Construction Management or closely related Undergraduate Program
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and not require visa sponsorship for the internship and future employment
  • Demonstrated interest in infrastructure or related field and a strong desire to advance skills related to IEI's work and projects
  • Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Capable to communicate and interact effectively and successfully with project managers, project engineers, and other staff
  • Demonstrate strong verbally and written skills using proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Enjoys working in a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Must be a self-starter, reliable, self-motivated, inquisitive and thrive on figuring things out
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and take initiative
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), MS Teams and navigating the Internet
  • Develop basic competency / awareness of industry standards
  • Acquire real world written and verbal communication and become comfortable talking to clients and co-workers
  • Knowledge of structure of weekly meetings
  • Develop knowledge of client expectations (needs and wants of clients)

Responsibilities

  • Work full time, Monday - Friday, during all 8 weeks of the internship (June 8th - August 3rd, 2026)
  • Be available to work 4-days Onsite
  • View and measure on construction site
  • Modify existing drawings
  • Attend design staff meetings
  • Create basic Excel tables
  • Organization management - scan and file projects
  • Transfer markups to Adobe pdf
  • Review existing conditions and existing site photo
  • Provide AutoCAD support
  • Assist the Project Managers and Project Engineers in reviewing complaints and resolving problems
  • Visit Project Site with Senior Staff
  • Perform compilation of data and assist in converting the compiled data into plans
  • Learn to estimate materials cost
  • Learn to interpret technical documents
  • Develop knowledge of engineering standards, as well as state and local regulations
