As the Global Chemical Management intern, you will be working on programs ensuring that proposed chemicals meet health, safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations. You will work closely with the global chemical management team, site operations teams, process engineers, facilities, procurement, and suppliers as needed to ensure chemical compliance. As you learn the systems and procedures, you will synthesize this knowledge into updated documentation, metrics/tracking, and/or training. Responsibilities could also include preparing data in support of regulatory compliance reporting. During this internship, you’ll learn about the chemical approval process and assist in supporting global operations. You’ll gain experience in global chemical regulations including chemical reporting. During this internship, you’ll be exposed to tactical and strategic aspects of chemical management from approving chemicals and maintaining documentation to collecting data supporting future chemical management goals. Stretch assignments can include establishing a baseline of chemical footprint, chemical management software support, or cross functional projects with other EHS (environmental health and safety) or sustainability disciplines.

Requirements

  • 3rd / 4th Year Bachelor’s degree or entering Master's Degree in one of the following areas of study: Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Environmental Science, or Sustainability
  • Detail oriented, self-directed, enthusiastic, team players who are willing to learn and apply that knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal, for local and global partners and internal customers
  • Strong problem solving skills and creativity to propose unique solutions
  • Experience with data management, organization and presentation of data, and database set-up are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Working on programs ensuring that proposed chemicals meet health, safety, environmental, and regulatory considerations.
  • Working closely with the global chemical management team, site operations teams, process engineers, facilities, procurement, and suppliers as needed to ensure chemical compliance.
  • Synthesizing knowledge into updated documentation, metrics/tracking, and/or training.
  • Preparing data in support of regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Assisting in supporting global operations.
  • Maintaining documentation to collecting data supporting future chemical management goals.
