About The Position

UDT is seeking a motivated and analytically driven Business Analyst Summer Intern to support our Process Improvement team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced business analysts and operations professionals to identify inefficiencies, map workflows, and recommend data-driven solutions that enhance organizational performance. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in business analysis, process optimization, and enterprise technology.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Completion of at least two (2) years of undergraduate coursework by the start of the internship.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas) and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or draw.io.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Basic understanding of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or BPM).
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience involving process analysis or operations.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, or Microsoft Project

Responsibilities

  • Assist in documenting current-state ("as-is") business processes using industry-standard tools such as Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather process requirements and pain points.
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and bottlenecks in existing workflows across departments.
  • Support the development of future-state ("to-be") process maps and improvement recommendations.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze operational and process performance data using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare summary reports for leadership.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support data-driven decision-making initiatives.
  • Assist in developing dashboards and visualizations to communicate process metrics.
  • Maintain clear and organized project documentation including process flows, meeting notes, and status reports.
  • Support the preparation of business cases and recommendation decks for process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Operations, HR, and Finance.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of process improvement solutions
