Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Passionate about the music and entertainment business, and have a desire to build a career in the industry
  • Able to adapt quickly to a changing environment with minimal disruption
  • An excellent communicator and enthusiastic collaborator who works well with team members, external partners, and senior management
  • You are hungry to learn and grow. You are curious, ask questions and get excited about new projects
  • A highly organized person that pays close attention to the details
  • Proven Excel experience
  • Familiarity with and interest in social media platforms
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • 7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events

Responsibilities

  • Work with the enforcement team in the Business Affairs department to reduce copyright infringement of SMP’s catalog and obtain compensation for SMP’s songwriters.
  • Researching and documenting infringing uses on social media platforms and other internet sites
  • Confirming relevant rights
  • Working with SMP’s worldwide databases and with other departments to obtain relevant information
  • Update logging system/spreadsheets with notes and other info about termination notices, rights analysis covering different aspects of music publishing including US copyright law and how it impacts rights in copyrights
  • Assist with research for songwriter agreements and other documentation relating to publishing rights
  • Provide support to attorneys on various matters as necessary
