About The Position

This Translational Medicine Biomarkers intern will be responsible for supporting ongoing assay development work for our pre/clinical programs in the wet lab setting. The intern will leverage flow cytometry and other ligand-binding assay platforms to support and develop methods in early-stage biomarker discovery. Beyond wet lab activities, interns are expected to research and present a proposal for the use of a surrogate biomarker in the accelerated clinical approval of a gene therapy drug product. This research activity will culminate with a final presentation of the proposal and strategy for biomarker assessment in a theoretical pre/clinical program. Applicants are expected to have a cursory level of wet lab competency prior to this internship, which can be satisfied by previous academic research and/or course lab work. Overall, the role is intended to train and prepare undergraduates who aspire to continue their academic careers in graduate/professional school at research universities or aim to enter the industrial research setting postgrad. The Intern-Biomarkers, Translational Medicine is based in RTP, NC and will report to the Principal Scientist, Flow Cytometry & Biomarker Data Analysis.
