The Biology Technologies Intern will own a defined summer project focused on developing, optimizing, and validating a reproducible phosphoproteomics workflow for use across Biology Technologies programs. Working closely with the Advanced Mass Spectrometry group, the intern will establish a robust analytical method leveraging the Bruker timsTOF flex platform and Spectronaut for data analysis. This project will result in a documented, validated workflow that supports downstream target engagement and drug discovery efforts. This is an onsite internship. Candidates must be able to work in person at the South San Francisco office.

Requirements

  • Have completed at least two to four years at a US college or university at the time of the program with a focus in Biochemistry.
  • Prior lab experience in biology or chemistry required with experience in biochemical assays preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented and have a proactive attitude in support of research activities and running assays
  • Highly focused, organized and motivated team player with good time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems with team members

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a Graduate degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in statistics/ data analysis is preferred.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document a reproducible phosphopeptide enrichment protocol for Biology Technologies
  • Optimize LC-MS acquisition parameters on the Bruker timsTOF flex for phosphoproteomics applications
  • Establish and validate a complete phosphoproteomics workflow from sample preparation through data analysis
  • Validate workflow performance using a defined biological perturbation to assess method robustness
  • Analyze and interpret phosphoproteomics datasets using Spectronaut
  • Apply the validated workflow to selected Biology Technologies targets
  • Maintain detailed experimental documentation and contribute to method standardization efforts
  • Provide regular project updates in group meetings and deliver a final presentation summarizing results and recommendations
