About The Position

Provides technical support and assists engineering consultants with inspections, analysis, and testing of vehicles, industrial machinery, consumer products, and other equipment. Assist in scene surveys, inspections, and generation of maps and layout drawings. Assists in the application of scientific principles, engineering methods, and techniques to a variety of projects. The mandatory research project must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort (housing not included). The research topic shall be mutually agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
  • Intermediate skills with CAD and office productivity software. Strong Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Six months of working experience required.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Must have completed at least Freshman year.
  • Academic good standing at an ABET-accredited engineering school.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.
  • Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8 am-5 pm).
  • If you are participating in our co-op program – we require that you are taking no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

  • MATLAB, AutoCAD or similar CAD software such as SolidWorks or Rhino.
  • Mechanic’s tolls. Demonstrated familiarity with automotive systems. Data acquisition and instrumentation.
  • Major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3.30 GPA or higher, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings with other consultants, technical and administrative staff.
  • Participate in group meetings with clients.
  • Assist in inspections preparation of including preparation of materials, equipment, and research.
  • Assist at inspection including note and photographic documentation.
  • Review and summarize file material.
  • Perform technical literature research and review.
  • Assist in calculations.
  • Perform mandatory research project and present project at conclusion of internship.
