About The Position

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Alumni team connects warriors, their families, and caregivers to peers, programs, and communities to ensure they have a readily available network of support. From recreational activities and sporting events to professional development opportunities and community service projects, the Alumni team hosts thousands of direct engagement and outreach events each year across the nation and in Germany. The Alumni Intern supports the WWP Alumni team by assisting with outreach efforts, event planning, community engagement, and data tracking while gaining hands-on experience working with military and veteran populations. APPLICANT ALERT: This is a paid internship opportunity for qualified applicants, and requires in-person attendance, three days each week at our Jacksonville, FL location. This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • High energy level; self-starter with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Mission-driven, guided by core values, and a pleasure to work with.
  • Coursework, volunteer, or work experience supporting community activities, event coordination, or volunteer engagement.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college.

Responsibilities

  • Support outreach initiatives by assisting in the recruitment and engagement of Alumni and family members, for both local and virtual WWP events.
  • Help introduce new Alumni to WWP’s programs, services, and community resources to strengthen their connection to the organization.
  • Contribute to community engagement efforts by supporting WWP teammates at both community‑based and WWP‑sponsored events.
  • Provide operational support at events, including participant check‑in, event setup and breakdown, and onsite engagement activities
  • Assist in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes peer connection, camaraderie, and family bonding.
  • Support efforts to identify opportunities for community involvement and explore ways to increase engagement within the local warrior population.
  • Shadow WWP teammates to gain firsthand exposure to outreach strategies, event operations, and veteran‑focused programming.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to build knowledge of WWP’s mission and organizational operations.
  • Learn and participate in other events or tasks as applicable.
