Position Overview Launch your career with a paid summer internship at Salinas Valley Health, an award-winning 263-bed acute care hospital serving Monterey County. The Intern will support the accounting team in vendor statement management and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial records. Responsibilities will include reviewing vendor accounts, verifying payments, and assisting in the resolution of discrepancies to mitigate risk and prevent credit holds. The role may also expand to include analysis of historical vendor activity and support task functions within Workday.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program
  • Must be available to participate in at least 8 weeks of the 10-week program
  • Interns will be matched with projects based on their academic field of study

Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile vendor statements, including bringing accounts up to date and maintaining them on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm payments, provide proof of payment, and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Identify and route aged or outstanding invoices to Accounting Technicians for processing
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of vendor activity over the past three years by requesting and analyzing vendor statements
  • Compare vendor statements (invoices and credits) against internal accounting records to identify discrepancies and potential credits
  • Support efforts to reduce risk of credit holds and improve overall account accuracy
